RiverWoods Gives Back: Building Bikes for Brighter Holidays

What happens when collaboration, creativity, and community come together? A powerful reminder that teamwork can make a real difference.

Recently, RiverWoods managers, directors, and supervisors from across all three communities participated in a hands-on team-building experience with a meaningful mission: building bicycles for charity. This wasn’t a typical workshop or meeting. It was an energizing challenge designed to strengthen teamwork while giving back to our local community.

Portsmouth Team Building facilitated the engaging and impactful experience. Their thoughtfully designed challenges brought out the best in our teams and helped turn collaboration into community impact.

The Challenge

To assemble each bicycle, teams first had to earn their parts. Participants were assigned to tables with co-workers they might not usually work with. Then, they had to navigate a series of puzzles and tasks that tested problem-solving skills, communication, and collaboration. Every challenge reinforced the importance of RiverWoods’ core values: be yourself, respect, not for self, sustainability, curiosity, and community.

As the challenges were completed and bicycle parts were collected, teams worked together to assemble fully functional bikes. By the end of the day, 17 completed bicycles had been put together.

Giving Back to the Community

All 17 bicycles were donated to New Generation, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mothers and children transitioning out of homelessness.

Knowing that our teamwork would directly impact local families made the experience even more meaningful. It was a powerful reminder that when we come together with a shared purpose, we can create positive change beyond our walls.
