Celebrate Diversity: RiverWoods Joins Portsmouth Pride Parade

Portsmouth Pride Parade
Portsmouth Pride Parade, June 2024

This June, the streets of Portsmouth were filled with color and joy as RiverWoods participated in the annual Pride Parade. Residents, staff and their families dressed in rainbow-themed attire and marched proudly through the city to celebrate love, equality and unity.

The event drew a large crowd, eager to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Participants of all ages danced to upbeat music, enjoyed delicious food from New Hampshire vendors and perused pride merchandise.

The RiverWoods food truck, The Kitchen Table, made an appearance and provided attendees with free smoothies. The truck also urged visitors to learn more about and donate to SAGE – Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders.

SAGE offers a range of services including advocacy, housing, social activities, and healthcare support. Founded in 1978 and renowned as the country’s oldest and largest organization for LGBTQ+ elders, their mission involves fostering a community where everyone, regardless of age or identity, can live with dignity and respect.

For RiverWoods, the support was a powerful showcase of the importance of standing together as allies and advocates for a more inclusive society. Residents and staff are proud to continue supporting causes that celebrate all forms of diversity. Read the RiverWoods Inclusivity Philosophy.
