From March 1 – 17, 2025, Residents of RiverWoods Exeter will be taking part in the Twentieth Annual Appeal of the Charitable Funds. Consistent with its mission as a not for profit charitable organization or 501(c)(3), RiverWoods Exeter residents, family and friends have given generous donations to further the goals of the community and benefit those who live and work here.
The history of giving at RiverWoods Exeter goes back to 2003, when The Woods residents felt strongly that they needed to expand their Wellness Clinic. After raising funds in just a few months for the effort, with tax deductible donations from residents, staff and the Board of Trustees, it was suggested in 2006 that a Charitable Funds Committee be established to continue to look towards the needs of the community. Subsequently, six major funds were established — some of which benefit people in the greater seacoast area.
RiverWoods Exeter Charitable Funds (all donations are tax deductible)
Benevolent Fund: Established to give aid to residents, who, through no fault of their own, have experienced financial hardship and are unable to meet their monthly RiverWoods Exeter payments.
Endowment Fund: Established to provide long-term buildup of funds for needs in the RiverWoods Exeter community. This fund is restricted as only the income from it can be put to use.
RiverWoods Exeter Fund: Established with the intent of receiving unrestricted gifts which can be used for any purpose to benefit RiverWoods Exeter and the greater seacoast area. All donations are unrestricted by both donor and the board.
The Elizabeth Calihan Spencer Memorial Scholarship Fund: Provides financial assistance to RiverWoods Exeter’s Licensed Nursing Assistants who are pursuing a nursing career or for Licensed Nurses to continue their education in the health field.
The Peabody Scholarship Fund: Provides financial assistance to children and grandchildren of RiverWoods Exeter employees who wish to pursue a post-high school education.
The RiverWoods Exeter Scholarship Fund: Provides financial assistance to RiverWoods Exeter staff who are graduating high-school seniors or recent graduates going on to further education.
