As the Boulders campus marks its 15th year, RiverWoods staff, residents, and design consultants have discussed upgrades for the main building. The “Boulders New at 15” project aims to create more comfortable gathering spaces and support an active, engaged community lifestyle for all residents. A similar renovation project, reflecting our commitment to ensuring community spaces follow current design trends, was completed at the Ridge campus in 2023.
Capital projects at RiverWoods are about more than construction; they’re about enhancing the communities for all current and future residents. Because projects focus on improvements that make daily life better for all, resident feedback and transparency are valued at every step.
Renovation Timeline
The Boulders renovations are scheduled for the 2026 fiscal year, spanning from July 2025 through June 2026. All work will be completed in carefully planned phases to minimize disruption to daily life for both staff and residents. The renovation process will begin with phase one during the first week of September 2025. The initial phase is expected to conclude in January 2026, with a second phase following its completion. We are excited to reveal the renovations when they are completed!
Scope of Improvements
The planned updates include:
- Exterior painting of the building
- Installation of new carpeting in common areas
- Refreshing interior spaces with new wall paint and wallpaper
- Upgraded furniture throughout the facility
- Structural changes to select areas
Meet the Team
Pat O’Keefe is the Senior Director of Capital Development, a role that helps RiverWoods communities thrive. While much of Pat’s work is behind the scenes, its impact is visible in every new space and improvement across our campuses.
From overseeing the construction of the annual capital expenditure budgets, managing monthly project updates and schedules to monitoring expenses and ensuring each project is completed on time, Pat works closely with the Finance team to keep everything running smoothly. Quarterly, Pat provides detailed updates to the Executive Directors, summarizing spending and upcoming projects, so everyone stays informed and can make sound, real-time financial decisions. Additionally, he serves as the main RiverWoods point of contact for all major new development projects, helping to streamline communications and keep key stakeholders well informed through regular updates.
Jamie Ryan is the Capital Projects Manager for The RiverWoods Group. Jamie acts as critical support to the Senior Director of Capital Development and provides project management assistance to the local RiverWoods communities, working closest with the Environmental Services teams.
Jamie leads vendor evaluation, RFP development, and provides project management support for various initiatives ranging from pre-construction through closeout. He conducts internal punch list inspections and provides warranty management for completed projects. Additionally, Jamie collaborates on annual capital expenditure budgets and oversees key components of the apartment refurbishment process. He encourages process enhancements and maintains a strong network of vetted contractors.
As RiverWoods looks to the future, the team places a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation, making sure our projects not only serve our needs today but also contribute to a vibrant, welcoming community for years to come.
