Supporting Community while Building Community

Life is better in community.

While it’s been a long year of social isolation, living in community has allowed our residents to maintain connections with other residents over common interests such as reading, music, art, and poetry, or by serving the local Seacoast community through charitable efforts like Project Linus and Desks for Durham.

Book clubs have been a way for residents to connect personally and intellectually throughout the winter. Want to follow along? This month the River Readers, one of four RWD book clubs that connect on a variety of topics and themes, will be reading and discussing Underland: A Deep Time Journey by Robert Macfarlane.

In the form of comfy, cozy blankets, 16 of our residents were able to provide a tangible source of comfort through the Project Linus organization, providing blankets for children who have experienced illness, trauma, or other difficult situations.

Just another example of how our residents have come together to build community and support community, even during a pandemic!
