John joined the RiverWoods Group in 2021 and brings over 30 years of senior Human Resources management experience to bear in his oversight of all HR activity for our communities including talent acquisition, management, and development, as well as benefits, payroll, workers’ comp, and employee relations.

Prior to RiverWoods, John held senior management roles in Human Resources for one of the largest promotional product suppliers in the advertising specialties industry and in one of the most successful sports licensed apparel companies in the US where he successfully grew the HR function from supporting 60 to eventually over 1,000 employees.

John is a graduate of Northeastern University with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resources Management.

Shelly Craig serves as the Senior Director of Finance for RiverWoods where she guides the organization’s financial operations across all three communities and for The RiverWoods Group. Since joining in 2020, she has led the Finance Team with integrity, clarity, and care overseeing accounting, billing, budgeting, financial analysis, and business solutions to ensure long-term sustainability and day-to-day fiscal responsibility.

Shelly works closely with leadership to develop and analyze budgets throughout the year, helping teams understand financial metrics and make confident, informed decisions that support organizational goals. A strategic financial leader with a passion for people, she also brings deep expertise in managing complex project accounting systems and in supporting training and education with programs on budgeting and finance.

A graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Shelly also completed Executive Education in Leadership for Executives at Harvard Business School. She carries the RiverWoods mission into every aspect of her role by being efficient, knowledgeable, supportive, and always leading with warmth and heart.

Kim Gaskell, VP of Operations for The RiverWoods Group, has been working in the senior living industry since 2018. Kim initially joined RiverWoods as the Executive Director for their newest community in Durham, New Hampshire. Under her leadership, the community achieved record-breaking occupancy success, achieving 95% stabilized occupancy in just under four months. In her current role as VP of Operations, Kim oversees the operations for all three RiverWoods communities in Exeter, Manchester, and Durham, which encompasses 1,100 residents and just under 1,000 employees.

Kim holds her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. During her time there, Kim served on their inaugural Student Advisory Board and was selected as the student commencement speaker.

In her current role, she plays a pivotal role in creating standards and consistency across the system, leading expansion projects at each community, and ensuring operational excellence for the system.

Kim is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and a certified Working Genius facilitator. She has served on the Board of Directors for LeadingAge Maine/New Hampshire and is an international speaker at many industry conferences, most notably focusing on the future of the multi-generational workforce. She most recently spoke at the Global Aging Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. Kim was selected to receive the LeadingAge National Leadership Award for 2025.

Kevin is responsible for the financial oversight of all participant organizations within the RiverWoods Group system to include investment management, debt issuance, audit control, and future development financial analysis.

Kevin has been with RiverWoods since 2005 and over that time has played significant roles in the successful development and opening of a new campus as well as the affiliation with another organization. Prior to joining RiverWoods, he held financial leadership roles at both large and small organizations. Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in History and an MBA in Finance, both earned at the University of New Hampshire. He is a frequent presenter at industry conferences on topics in the finance and operations areas.

In his spare time Kevin enjoys baking and puttering around his yard.

David joined the RiverWoods group in October 2021 and brings a unique mix of business acumen and technical expertise to the organization. His experience spans a variety of industries including Fortune 100 distribution, health care and manufacturing.

Previously, David served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Empath Health, a not-for-profit post-acute healthcare provider in Southwest Florida, where he led Information Technology, Real Estate, and Facilities Management.

He enjoys being active in the local community having served as a Board member for the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer for Empath’s children’s grief counseling program – Blue Butterfly. He currently serves on the Board for LeadingAge Maine and New Hampshire.

He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from DeVry University in Chicago and has studied Executive Education at MIT/Sloan School of Business, Harvard Medical School and Florida State University. He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems and a certified Healthcare CIO.

David lives in Epping, NH with his wife Michele, and their Dachshund “Buddy.”  David and Michele have two daughters, one in New Hampshire and the other in Sarasota, Florida.  In his spare time, David enjoys cycling although admits the hills of New Hampshire present a bit more of a challenging ride.

Pat joined RiverWoods in 2022, bringing substantial experience in multifamily property management with a strong focus on capital planning, project management, operations, and facilities oversight. His career has been shaped by a deep understanding of how well-designed environments can enhance the quality of life for residents, support operational success, and strengthen community identity.

With a BA in Communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Pat pairs strategic thinking with a collaborative leadership style. He leads complex renovation and development projects, cultivating strong relationships with contractors and vendors, and built capital strategies that align with long-term organizational goals and sustainability.

Pat’s expertise ensures that every new project, from campus upgrades to major developments, supports the RiverWoods mission and is fiscally responsible. He plays a key role in future-focused planning. Whether he’s guiding a large-scale expansion or planning for annual improvements, Pat is committed to creating spaces that serve both residents and staff, today and for years to come.

Jason Smith is the VP of Quality for The RiverWoods Group. Prior to joining RiverWoods, Jason served as the Senior Director of Long Term Care Services of Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Assisted Living Community, one of Rockingham County’s largest aging services operators. The community consists of skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care.

Jason has over 25 years of experience leading healthcare organizations. He is a forward-thinking executive with a proven track record of transforming vision, culture, and strategy. Two years into his tenure at Rockingham County, Jason received the NH Nursing Home Administrator of the Year Award for guiding the community from a 2-star rated nursing home to 5-star. With his focus on resident centered care, he has partnered with community agencies to add resources and improve delivery of care and services.

Prior to joining Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Assisted Living Community in 2020, Jason served as the Director of Health Care Services of Kendal at Hanover a Life Plan Community, where he led operations for primary care, home care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care. Before his role at Kendal at Hanover, he was the Executive Director for the Courville Communities.

Jason formerly served as an independent consultant, providing interim leadership to senior living, independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing communities. He was the past President of the NH Chapter of American College of Health Care Administrators.

Jason received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and psychology from Southern New Hampshire University, and an MS in project management from Granite State College. Jason has furthered his educational studies pursuing an MBA in project management and Doctor of Business Administration in Quality Management Systems.

With 27 years of dedicated service to RiverWoods, Penny Teodorczyk has played an integral role in the organization’s growth and success. She began her career in the Marketing Department as a Marketing Coordinator before being promoted to Executive Assistant and later advancing to her current role as Director of Administration.

Penny holds a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. In her leadership role, she oversees key administrative functions, supports executive leadership, and coordinates RiverWoods’ two Boards, ensuring seamless operations across the organization. Her expertise in organizational management and planning has made her a vital asset to RiverWoods.

Beyond her administrative responsibilities, Penny has been instrumental in the success of RiverWoods Exeter’s bi-annual charity auctions, which she has overseen for 11 events, raising over $600,000 to benefit the community. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence continue to make a lasting impact at RiverWoods.

Justine is a graduate of Rutgers University with a BS in Accounting, and several Executive Education programs from Columbia, Harvard, and University of Pennsylvania. She began her professional career in auditing and technical accounting roles, working in public accounting and the life insurance industry.

In 1994, Justine joined RiverWoods Exeter as part of the pre-opening team as the Director of Accounting, with growth into the role of CFO in 1997, COO in 2005, and in 2007 Ms. Vogel became President/CEO. The RiverWoods Group system currently serves more than 1,100 seniors and employs more than 900 staff in the southern NH area.

Ms. Vogel is a certified public accountant in the state of New Jersey. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Unitil Corporation, chairing the Audit Committee; Caring Communities, chairing the Underwriting Committee; and in 2023 she was appointed to the Board of Trustees for Leading Age, the national industry association for nonprofit aging service providers.

Justine lives in Hampton, NH with her husband, dog and two cats, in what they affectionately call “the zoo.” Her two grown daughters live in Boston and Milan, Italy.

Justine was named as one of the NH 200 in 2020 by New Hampshire Business Review.
